What To Expect After A Reiki Session
Everyone seems to talk about what to expect during a Reiki healing, but you don’t tend to hear too much about what happens to you after the healing. This article will educate you about the process you may go through after a Reiki session. We’ll discuss the transition your physical, mental, and emotional health may experience, what’s “normal”, why you may be having these symptoms, and what you should do to continue to heal. Some people don’t feel anything afterwards, and that’s fine too. Just keep in mind that what you experience is exactly what you need to go through, and there is nothing abnormal with you, the practitioner, or your Reiki session.
The Different Types of Cleanses:
Physical Body Cleanse
This type of cleanse is one of the most common. After a Reiki session, your body goes through a detoxification process. This typically occurs after your body has been storing stress for an extended period. As your body purifies the cells, it releases toxins and restores Chi energy through the meridian pathways. The toxins can have side effects such as headaches, mood swings, diarrhea, physical pain, low energy, and even cold/flu-like symptoms as they leave the body. Once the blockages are cleared out, the body starts re-adjusting. It can also manifest into lifestyle changes. Some people will feel the need to alter their diet and may have sensitivity to certain foods or drinks. The best thing you can do is drink plenty of fluids to flush out your system and eat a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, and protein. Take any over-the-counter medication, if appropriate, to help manage the pain, and take a day or two to rest. It usually passes after a few days, but don’t be surprised if the dietary adjustments last.
Emotional Cleanse
This is one of the more difficult cleanses. Some Reiki Practitioners may give you more intuitive information after the healing. This can illuminate the path to discovering what really brought you to heal with Reiki in the first place. It can also shed light on some of the emotions you’ve been trying to suppress. Regardless, your body can no longer harbor these deep feelings, and they need to be released. This tends to come out as strong emotions or mood swings. One minute you may start crying, then the next you could feel a sense of peace. For some people, you may not even know why you’re emotional. The smallest things can trigger you. For some people who have been struggling with these emotions, it may just feel different, and they’re not quite sure what they are feeling. It can be a very confusing time. The best way to get through it is to feel it. Emotions want to be felt, not analyzed. Embrace the fact that you’re human and have emotions. If you can, try to identify the emotion you’re feeling and label it. Some people take comfort in listening to music, watching a heart-filled movie, journaling, or having a good cry. All of which can help tap into your emotions.
Mental Cleanse
You’ve just been through this amazing journey to heal on a whole new level. Now your brain needs time to process all the information that your body just experienced. You’re realizing that going through life the way you were can create blockages. If you truly want to change, now you need to change the way you think. This is a process that can take the longest. It’s not easy to change the way we are programmed, but with determination and self-reflection, you can shape your future. Negative thoughts may resurface, such as guilt, self-destructive patterns, rejection, or indifference. I know that life has its hardships, but these are opportunities for the soul to grow. It’s how we deal with them that builds strength and resilience. The best thing to do is to start shifting the way we think. Start simple with a short meditation or journaling. Opening up to a professional or trusted loved one can help gain a different perspective. Try to view the world with more compassion and less judgment. Be gentle to yourself and try to be optimistic so you can rewrite your narrative.
Spiritual Cleanse
One of the most profound cleanses, and possibly the main reason you sought out Reiki in the first place. Changes, such as a new attitude towards viewpoints, relationships, and moral beliefs, can significantly impact lifestyle changes. In order to make room for new energy, some things must be discarded. This may lead you down a path of feeling misunderstood, lonely, or empowered. This transformation is similar to the journey of a butterfly. First solitude, then painful, then growth, then flight. You may become more sensitive to the energy around you. This is absolutely normal. Things will become far clearer as the spiritual guiding forces revolutionize your way of life. Be proud of your enormous spiritual growth.
Long-Term Effects
One question I get the most is how to maintain the energy. The key is to give in to whatever you’re experiencing. Stop continuing to do things the same way and expecting different results. Integrate little adjustments to your lifestyle over time. Continue your Reiki sessions and other forms of self-care at least once a month. Overall, just know that everyone experiences Reiki in their own way. During a session, the soul receives exactly what it needs. All the things you may experience after a session are completely what you need to go through to transform your life. Be kind to yourself and have patience with your healing process. All things will be revealed in time.
